Media Release - Winds of Zenadth Cultural Festival set for 2025
Torres Shire Council is excited to announce that the Winds of Zenadth Cultural Festival will take place this year from Tuesday, 16 September to Friday, 19 September 2025.
Today, Torres Shire Council Mayor Elsie Seriat OAM expressed, “Council acknowledges that this is a much-anticipated Festival and we look forward to coming out and engaging with everyone as we plan our biggest celebration, the Winds of Zenadth Cultural Festival”
Mayor Seriat along with Cr. Gabriel Bani, Chair of the Indigenous Advisory Committee, warmly invites everyone to participate in the Festival, stating “to all the island communities of Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait), from Boigu in the west to Mer in the east, as well as the communities of NPA and Cape York, and the Torres Strait Islander families residing on the mainland, we extend a heartfelt welcome for all to join us at the Festival.”
Since the Indigenous Advisory Committee was established in 2009, each Festival has been centred around a specific theme, reflecting our journey over the past decade. The Festival theme for 2025 is set to be announced very soon.

Council wishes to advise that Friday, 19 September 2025 is a gazetted Public Holiday in the Shire for the Festival.
